OUR STORY

The Tom Johnson Memorial Classic was founded by Tom Johnson over 43 years ago. It began with the intent of getting good friends in Funeral Service together for a few days of fellowship. The event now has approximately 120 participants each year who dedicate two days of play to the memory of the profession's finest: Tom Johnson, Mike Avon, Bill Bischoff, Mike Fleming, Dave Hirt, Steve Mack, Doug Martin, George Menke, John Morrow, Ed Murphy, John Smith, Mike Stephens, Ed Tuggle and Joe Weatherford.

The annual golf outing is headed by Jake Johnson of Johnson Consulting Group. Since its inception the Tom Johnson Memorial Classic has raised over $1,000,000 in scholarship funds, which provide scholarships each year to deserving students pursuing a career in funeral service.

According to Jake Johnson, "all of the participants have been extremely generous in supporting the Tom Johnson Memorial Classic mission. We are thankful to all attendees for their generosity".
